Three Nice Days on St John

Our first 3 days on the island have been good, the roads are extremely narrow and SJ is one switchback after another climbing around on their mountains. Spent Monday exploring the island, spending some time in Cruz Bay, the main touristy port where the ferries come in.  Tuesday we had a beautiful day at Cinnamon Bay, trying our snorkeling techniques (of which we had none), and getting some nice sun.  Wednesday was an early rise and drive back into Cruz Bay (it is eight miles away and takes about 35 minutes to get there) where we had a 9AM ocean kayak trip.  Just had our guide Chris (from Maine) and two gals from NJ on this 3 1/2 hr excursion to "Honeymoon Bay" and then across the main strait to Henley Cay, at both places we beached the kayaks and did some nice snorkeling.  The trek across the strait into the wind took some major paddling, coming back was nicer with the wind at our backs.  Lunch at Cruz Bay, visited some shops, then took the Northshore road to Trunk Bay, a beautiful turquoise colored bay that is part of the St John National Park, complete with an underwater trail one can snorkel and read submerged placards along the way.  Got home around 5:30, soaked in the hot tub for awhile, then had dinner in the cottage.  Hugh storm came through about 30 minutes ago, winds sounded like a hurricane, now calm and balmy again.  Have gone through about 2/3 of a bottle of cocoanut rum, mixes great with orange and pineapple juices.  Until later this week, thanks for visiting. Attached (finally) are three photos, one from the Centerline road to Cruz Bay with a picture showing Coral Bay, the long island beach picture is Cinnamon Bay, the third photo shows Trunk Bay.As you might notice, the blogs are out of sequence now since I've added photos. We are on schedule with the trip, now in Key West until Wednesday.
